Rare CDV of a long bearded phrenologist holding a newspaper or sign that reads “PHRENOLOGY.” I believe this is the well-known 19th century phrenologist Lorenzo Niles Fowler [1811-1896.] Based initially in New York City, then in London, Fowler read the heads of many of the era’s most famous personages, including Walt Whitman, Mark Twain, and Clara Barton. Outstanding image!
